
Fund 53 - Fund for Hospitalized Vets
This fund was established many years ago. The fund provides assistance to veterans in VA Hospitals. The Rehabilitation Committee has oversight of these funds and has an annual meeting to determine what assistance the fund will provide to the VA Hospitals.
Fund 54 - John Zgoda Memorial Disabled Veteran Hunt
The event was created many years ago and was renamed as a memorial project in 2022. The event provides veterans the opportunity to go on a deer hunt, reconnect with nature, and develop camaraderie in a safe and fun environment. The monies collected through the Foundation are used for feeding participants and volunteers, purchasing and maintaining deer stands and other equipment used, purchasing support material, reimbursing Legionville, and other related costs.
Fund 65 - Pheasant Dinner
This fund is also referred to as the Special Veterans Hospital Fund. The fund was established many years ago in The American Legion Department of Minnesota. The purpose is to provide an annual pheasant dinner to veterans in veteran hospitals and veteran homes. It will also entertain requests for other needs of veteran homes or veteran hospitals. The Pheasant Dinner Committee oversees this dedicated fund.
Fund 78 - MN Disaster Relief
This fund was created many years ago to assist Minnesota Legionnaires with financial assistance when a disaster occurs. The Department Commander is tasked with making the decisions on when and where the funds will be disbursed.
Fund 85 - MN Veterans Assistance
This fund was created after receipt of a $100,000 donation expressly requesting its use be for wartime veterans. Distributions from this fund are at the discretion of the Minnesota American Legion Foundation Board.
Fund 86 - Rehab Veteran Outdoor Trust
This fund houses donations designated for use in outdoor programs for veterans eg: Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt, Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt. Distributions from this fund are at the discretion of the Rehabiltation Committee.
