Fund 53 - Fund for Hospitalized Vets

This fund was established many years ago. The fund provides assistance to veterans in VA Hospitals. The Rehabilitation Committee has oversight of these funds and has an annual meeting to determine what assistance the fund will provide to the VA Hospitals.

Fund 54 - John Zgoda Memorial Disabled Veteran Hunt

The event was created many years ago and was renamed as a memorial project in 2022. The event provides veterans the opportunity to go on a deer hunt, reconnect with nature, and develop camaraderie in a safe and fun environment. The monies collected through the Foundation are used for feeding participants and volunteers, purchasing and maintaining deer stands and other equipment used, purchasing support material, reimbursing Legionville, and other related costs.

Fund 65 - Pheasant Dinner

This fund is also referred to as the Special Veterans Hospital Fund. The fund was established many years ago in The American Legion Department of Minnesota. The purpose is to provide an annual pheasant dinner to veterans in veteran hospitals and veteran homes. It will also entertain requests for other needs of veteran homes or veteran hospitals. The Pheasant Dinner Committee oversees this dedicated fund.

Fund 78 - MN Disaster Relief

This fund was created many years ago to assist Minnesota Legionnaires with financial assistance when a disaster occurs. The Department Commander is tasked with making the decisions on when and where the funds will be disbursed.

Fund 85 - MN Veterans Assistance

This fund was created after receipt of a $100,000 donation expressly requesting its use be for wartime veterans. Distributions from this fund are at the discretion of the Minnesota American Legion Foundation Board.

Fund 86 - Rehab Veteran Outdoor Trust

This fund houses donations designated for use in outdoor programs for veterans eg: Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt, Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt. Distributions from this fund are at the discretion of the Rehabiltation Committee.

Fund 52 - MN American Legion Baseball

This fund was created many years ago. All baseball income is deposited into this account and all baseball expenditures are paid from this account.

Fund 56 - Scouts BSA Scholarship

This fund was started many years ago. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to the Minnesota Eagle Scout of the Year.

Fund 60 - Girls’ Fastpitch Softball

All Girls Fastpitch Softball income is deposited into this account and all Girls Fastpitch Softball expenditures are paid from this account.

Fund 66 - Nurses Scholarship

The Nurses Scholarship Fund was established many years ago in The American Legion Department of Minnesota. The purpose is to provide scholarships to nurses. Scholarship recipients are chosen by members of the Americanism Committee and the Department Service Officer of The American Legion Department of Minnesota.

Fund 75 - Oratorical Contest Scholarship

This dedicated fund holds the Oratorical Scholarship funds until they are requested by the winners. Each year after the Oratorical Contest the awards for the four winners are placed in this account. Awarded funds remain in this account until winners provide The American Legion Department of Minnesota with proof they have been accepted into a college or university.

Fund 76 - American Legion Memorial Fund

Funding is from memorials of former American Legion members. The funds provide scholarships which are awarded by the Americanism Committee.

Fund 77 - MN Boys State

This was the first fund moved to the Minnesota American Legion Foundation. The Boys State Program became an LLC and was purchased by the Foundation for $1. This dedicated fund receives all income generated by Boys State and pays all expenditures incurred by Boys State.

Fund 81 - Boy Scout Council Assistance

The purpose of the fund is to assist Boy Scout Councils when funds are requested. The Chairman of the Boys Scouts (sub-chairman to the Americanism Chairman) is tasked with the oversight of this fund.

Fund 87 - Junior Shooting Sports

This fund houses donations designated for use in the Junior Shooting Sports program. Distributions from this fund will be at the discretion of the Junior Shooting Sports Chairman.

Fund 82 - Dept Commander's Project

This fund houses monies received for the Department Commander’s project each year and is distributed to the designated project(s) at the end of the Commander’s term.

Fund 83 - MN Legion Riders Director Project

To raise funds for a project designated by the Minnesota American Legion Riders Department Director to support the aims and purposes of The American Legion. Funds collected through the Foundation will be used for a donation to the designated program as approved by the Minnesota American Legion Foundation.

Fund 84 - Riders National Mission Project

This fund holds monies until they can be presented to the National Organization during the National Convention.

Fund 99 - SAL Commander's Project

This fund houses monies received for the Sons of the American Legion Commander’s project. The funds are distributed to the designated project(s) at the end of the Commander’s term.

Fund 50 - MN American Legion Foundation

This fund’s income is primarily interest on held funds and donations earmarked for the Foundation Operating costs. The funds are distributed according to need to: other funds; to pay operational expenses (eg. travel and per diem for meetings; Foundation Scholarships; Oratorical Contest expenses; ROTC medals and ribbons; donation requests). Additionally, distributions are made to special projects (eg. run up expenses on new VA Homes, Cemetaries, similar).

Fund 61 - National Emergency Fund (NEF)

This fund was set up to accept National Emergency Fund donations which will be presented at the National Convention in the year the funds were raised.

Fund 63 - ROTC / Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Scholarships

The ROTC / Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Scholarship fund was established many years ago by The American Legion Department of Minnesota. The purpose is to provide funds for the ROTC and CAP scholarships. The National Security/Foreign Relations Committee oversees the scholarships and this dedicated fund.

Fund 64 - Armed Forces Service Center at MSP

The Armed Forces Service Center has been in the Minneapolis/St Paul Airport since 1970. Located inside security at the MSP Terminal 1, it provides food, beverages, a TV lounge, computer, printer, luggage storage, dining room, playroom, separate bunk rooms for men and women with a crib, three bathrooms, lactation station and a shower to active duty military, Purple Heart recipients and Dept of Defense ID card holders (includes dependents, retirees in 100% DAV)
